FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Welcome to our FAQ, Frequently Asked Questions, Page. Your guide to everything from class types and memberships to studio etiquette and booking with ease.

REFORMER AND STUDIO QUESTIONS

1. How is CECI Reformer Pilates different from other studios?

All of our instructors are professionally trained dancers, bringing a deep, intuitive understanding of movement, body alignment, and technique to every class. With only 7 reformers in the space, we keep things intentionally small so you receive personalised attention and hands-on support in every session.

We prioritise connection — getting to know you, your body, and how you move — to help you build strength, confidence, and feel at home in your practice.

2. I’ve never done Pilates/Reformer before. Where do I start?

This is exciting and we can’t wait to begin this journey with you! Start by visiting our Getting Started page, which will guide you through the initial steps and what to expect. You are in such good hands!

Please remember to book into our Beginners First classes - they’re designed to give you a strong foundation and confidence in your practice.

3. I’m pregnant. Is Reformer Pilates suitable for me?

Yes absolutely! Reformer Pilates can be a safe and supportive way to move during pregnancy, especially when guided by experienced instructors. At CECI, we offer tailored modifications to suit each stage of pregnancy, focusing on breath, alignment, core support, and gentle strength.

If you’re expecting, please let us know before class so we can provide the care and adjustments you need. Please only book in for beginners or mixed classes. In some cases, we may recommend private sessions for more focused support, especially in the later stages.

4. I have an injury or am recovering from one. Can I still do a CECI Reformer class?

In most cases, yes. Reformer Pilates can be a powerful tool for injury recovery and rehabilitation. Our instructors have a deep understanding of movement and alignment and are skilled in offering modifications to support your body safely and effectively.

We do recommend checking with your healthcare provider or physio before starting, especially if you’re recovering from surgery or a more serious injury. If needed, we may suggest starting with a private session to ensure you’re moving safely and with the right support.

Your recovery is important to us, and we’re here to help you move with confidence and care.

5. How often do I need to come?

It really depends on what feels good for you and fits your schedule. The key is finding a rhythm that you can maintain comfortably over time.

Many people find that coming about 3 times a week helps them build strength and feel the most benefits, but even once a week is a wonderful way to support your body and wellbeing.

6. How old can someone be to attend classes and 1:1 sessions?

Our classes and private sessions are open to people of all ages! Whether you’re a young adult or embracing your golden years, Pilates can be adapted to suit your body and goals.

We believe movement is for everyone, and our instructors are experienced in tailoring sessions to meet a wide range of ages and abilities.

7. Do I need to be fit for a CECI workout?

Absolutely not! CECI is all about inclusivity - no matter your age, fitness level, or experience, you’re welcome here. Our classes are designed to meet you exactly where you are, whether you’re a complete beginner, returning after a break, or anywhere in between.

Our skilled instructors will support and guide you every step of the way, helping you build strength, flexibility, and confidence in a safe, welcoming space where everyone belongs.

MEMBERSHIPS & PACKAGES

1. How do memberships work?

Think of a membership as your wellness subscription - a simple way to stay consistent with your Pilates practice. You’re billed monthly for a set number of class credits, which you can use however they fit your schedule.

We ask for a minimum commitment of 3 months to help you build lasting habits, and after that, just a 1-month notice if you decide to cancel (though we’re pretty sure you’ll love it here!).

Memberships are also our most affordable option and a great way to make Pilates a regular, nourishing part of your routine.

2. Can I cancel my membership during the contract period?

We ask for a 3-month minimum commitment to help support your consistent practice and wellness journey. During this period, cancellations aren’t available, but after the initial 3 months, you can cancel anytime with a 1-month notice.

If you have any questions or special circumstances, just reach out - we’re here to help!

3. Can i FREEZE my membership?

Yes! We understand life happens, so you can freeze your membership for up to 2 months per year. This way, you don’t lose your credits or progress when you need a break.

Just let us know in advance, and we’ll happily pause your membership until you’re ready to jump back in.

4. How long are packages valid for?

Our packages come with flexible timeframes to fit your schedule and keep you motivated:

  • Intro Pack: valid for 2 weeks
  • 3-Pack: valid for 4 weeks
  • 5-Pack: valid for 6 weeks
  • 10-Pack: valid for 12 weeks
  • 20-Pack: valid for 24 weeks
  • This gives you plenty of time to use your sessions at a comfortable pace and stay consistent with your practice.

    5. If i buy a package and can't complete all classes, can I get a refund?

The short answer is no - we don’t offer refunds for unused classes. However, we understand that life can throw curveballs. In special cases like medical leave, we’re happy to extend the validity of your package to give you extra time to use your sessions.

    6. WHAT is your refund policy?

We don’t offer refunds or transfers for class credits. Workshops and special events are also non-refundable. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out — we’re here to help!

    7. Can i FREEZE my CLASS PACKAGED?

While class packages can’t be frozen, we understand that life can be unpredictable. If you have a medical situation or travel often for work, please reach out to us. We’ll do our best to find a solution that works for you.

    THE CLASSES

    1. WHAT DO I NEED FOR MY FIRST CLASS?

Just bring yourself and wear comfortable clothes you can move in! You’ll need grip socks for safety and stability - if you don’t have any, we sell them at the studio.

Before your first class, you can complete the PAR-Q (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire) online for convenience, or fill out a physical form here at the studio. You’ll also sign a liability waiver to help us keep you safe and tailor your session.

There’s a filtered tap where you can refill your water bottle to stay refreshed.

Our instructors will guide you every step of the way - just come ready to move and enjoy!

    2. WHAT IS YOUR LATE POLICY?

We kindly ask that you arrive 5–10 minutes before class starts - newcomers especially should aim for 10 minutes early. This gives you time to settle in, fill out any forms if needed, and find your calm mindset before the session begins.

Due to the logistics of our studio, latecomers cannot be admitted once the class has started. At that time, our phone is taken off the hook to keep the space peaceful and uninterrupted, so everyone can have the best possible experience.

    3. WHAT IS YOUR CANCELATION POLICY?

We ask that you please give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your class. This helps us manage the schedule and offer your spot to someone else.

Cancellations made within less than 24 hours will not be eligible for a credit or refund.

    4. HOW DO I GET INTO THE STUDIO?

When you’re facing the cream door at 21 Bonny Street, look to your right for a sticker that says CECI STUDIO. Press it, and we’ll buzz you in!

Please be aware that if a class is still in session, you might need to wait a few minutes before we can let you in.

If you have any trouble, just give us a call - we’re happy to help.

    5. DO YOU HAVE SHOWERS, A BATHROOM, and changing rooms?

We have two toilets available for your use, and a female only changing room that will be opening shortly.

    6. can I share my classes?

Class credits are for individual use and can’t be shared or transferred. However, you can gift classes to someone else by purchasing a separate package or gift card.

If you’d like help with gifting options, just let us know!

    BOOKING SYSTEM

    1. how do i manage my packages, memberships, and class bookings?

We use Mindbody, a simple online system where you can easily book classes, manage your packages, and update your membership details - all from your phone or computer.

You’ll receive instructions on how to set up your account when you join, and if you ever need help, just reach out to us!

    2. how far in advance can i book a class?

You can book classes up to 1 month in advance, giving you plenty of time to plan your Pilates sessions and stay consistent with your practice.

    3. can i book online and pay in person?

No, to keep things simple and smooth, payment is required at the time of booking, which is done online through our system.

If you have any questions or need help with booking, just reach out - we’re happy to assist!
